I have a question about Weed Wars or would like to interview a Harborside staff member.
How do I get to Harborside?
What do I need to register with you? Is there paper work and a fee involved?
Are there membership fees?
What do I need to become a member?
How do I go about vending my medicine to Harborside?
Can you ship medicine to patients and non-patients in other states?
Can I get pre-verified?
How do I become a medical cannabis patient?
What is a Patient ID card? Does it benefit me?
What is a State ID card? Would I benefit from this?
Do you require a State ID or CMCP ID card?
How can I find out what you have? Do you have a menu with a price list?
Do you carry clones and seeds?
Please direct all Weed Wars and interview inquires to our media relations team. Contact information at this link.
1840 Embarcadero
Oakland, CA 94606
You can find a map and get directions, here. It is easy to miss our building as you come up Embarcadero, so look for us across the street from Motel 6.
Harborside Health Center is a collective of patients. In order to visit our facilities you must register as a member of our collective, which involves signing an agreement stating your intention to relate with Harborside as such. This in no way limits your ability to cultivate your own medicine, infringes upon your legal limits, or prevents you from joining another collective. The agreement simply states your intention to be an active member of the collective.
When you come in each time you must have one of the following documents:
- Letter of recommendation for the use of medical cannabis which is signed by a California licensed doctor.
- Patient ID card that is printed by the city of Oakland.
- California State ID card for medical cannabis patients and caregivers.
- Caregivers are welcome to register with the proper document from your patient’s doctor.
You must also show a valid form of ID on every visit. Any of these forms are acceptable:
- State Driver’s license
- State identification card issued by the DMV
- Passport
- Temporary DMV paper work along with either of the above. (This would be in case your ID is expired or you have lost it.)
With these two items you will be eligible to register. We do not charge any registration fees to do so. You must sign our registration form before you are member of the collective.
No. There are no membership fees whatsoever.
Please visit our Vendor Guidelines page for vending hours, orientation times and more.
No. Interstate trafficking of medical cannabis remains illegal. We like to suggest two organizations as excellent resources for all of your questions on how to become a medical cannabis patient in your state. Both Americans for Safe Access (http://www.safeaccessnow.org) and NORML (http://www.norml.org) can answer any questions you may have about medical cannabis resources in your area.
You need to bring a valid California ID and proof of your status as a medical patient. If you bring a medical ID card issued by the California Medical Cannabis Patient ID Center (CMCP), or the State of California, we will honor it on the spot. If you only have a doctor's recommendation, we simply need to call and verify it through your doctor's office. So, if you only have a doctor's recommendation, please try and come to Harborside during your doctor's regular business hours so that we may contact them.
We might be able to verify you ahead of time if your doctor does not require that we fax your recommendation to them. Simply fill out the online form found, here, or you can call and we will walk you through the process. If you have a California Medical Cannabis Patient ID Center (CMCP) card, or a state-issued medical ID card, then you will not need to be verified at all.
There are many websites that can walk you through the process, but essentially if you suffer from a medical condition which interferes with your ability to perform normal social activities, you can obtain a recommendation from a licensed California medical doctor to use medical cannabis. While any doctor can sign a recommendation, most doctors will not do so for fear of prosecution. Therefore, there are doctors whose sole medical practice is to issue these recommendations. You can find lists of such doctors at CA NORML and more information on the subject at the Americans For Safe Access website.
The Patient ID card is issued through the city of Oakland and acts as a valid form of ID on top of a pre-verified recommendation with the city of Oakland. This card is a great benefit to those that are primarily using Oakland or Berkeley based dispensaries.
The California Medical Cannabis Patient ID Center issues a medical ID card for $35. The advantage of the card, other than being laminated, is that it is recognized in most dispensaries in the Bay Area as a way to gain access without further verification. The CMCP is located at 1733 Broadway in Oakland.
We also recognize the State ID card, which is also issued by the CMCP (see question above). The State ID is sponsored by the state of California, costs twice as much as the CMCP ID, and takes longer to obtain. Please note that the California Attorney General has also disclosed its willingness to share patient information collected by the State ID card program with the Federal government. The CMCP card, by contrast, is cheaper and your information will not be shared by anyone without a subpoena or your express permission. Both cards are issued at the same place - the CMCP.
The person that benefits from this card would be someone who is traveling with medication throughout the state of California.
No. There are some dispensaries that require a medical ID card.
In accordance with State Bill 420, we will honor your doctor's recommendation provided we can reach your doctor's office to verify it.
We currently feature a limited online menu. Please be aware that our full menu is rather large and changes very frequently. So, what you see online might not be in stock by the time you arrive. It will give you a good sense of the medicine we carry though. We do try to carry over 40 different types of buds, 30 different concentrates, plus a lot of edibles. If we don't have something specific that you are looking for, we will probably have something you will like.
