Harm Reduction Clinical Services for Substance Use, Misuse and Abuse
Individual and Couples Therapy to address your Substance Abuse Issues
This program at Harborside Health Center is designed for individuals who feel they have a substance abuse or misuse issue. Harm Reduction means simply making positive change in your life. You reduce harm to yourself, your family and community when you take responsibility for your substance abuse.
Our therapist Laine Demetria, MS, LMFT (#31868) helps patients identify goals and develop a plan to effectively meet these goals. Often patients create a moderation / modification plan or choose abstinence. Areas we explore in therapy:
- Identify and assess substance use or misuse
- Quit tobacco, alcohol, pharmaceutical and other substances
- Moderate the use of a particular substance
- Learn more about different substances
- Implement harm reduction strategies for other self-harming issues
Our Harm Reduction Clinical Services program consist of 12 consecutive sessions at 50 minutes each. Since sessions are brief, patients can expect a “present day” focus.
Sign up for your first session at the Oakland reception desk or contact us for more information. Laine Demetria will call to schedule your first session according to her availability.
