Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy with Gweneth "Rose" Dietrich, CCHT
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm - 7pm
Hypnotherapy is the application of hypnosis as a form of treatment. The objective is to utilize trance states for more effective use of personal resources. In trance, some functions, like involuntary nerve actions, can become accessible to the conscious mind--for example, anesthesia and vasoconstriction (vasodilatation). Also, it is often easier and quicker to modify behavior, emotional content and attitudes, if desired, under the paradigm of programming. Energy clearing, cleansing and healing can be accessed in the trance state, as well as emotional release and emotional nurturance. The most common use of hypnotherapy is to remedy maladies like obesity, addiction, pain, ego, anxiety, stress, amnesia, phobias and performance. But many others can also be treated by hypnosis, including functional disorders like irritable bowel syndrome, skin problems, allergy, asthma, sleep disorder and arthritis.
Rose is a Master Hypnotist, a Certified Hypnotherapist, also certified by the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners, and works as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. She trained at the Hypnotherapy Training Institute in Corte Madera, California, and was taught by Marleen Mulder, Randal Churchill, and Ormond McGill.
The focus of her hypnotherapy practice is both practical and spiritual. For meaningful growth in our lives, we need both bread and roses - food for the true body and the body of down-to-earth matters, and food for the spirit and dreams. She loves working with clients, and hypnotherapy gives her a way to helpfully accompany those who seek to improve the quality of life.

Chiropractic
Chiropractic
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm - 7pm
Chiropractic is a form of natural healing that uses the hands to locate and correct subluxations in the body. A subluxation is a joint that is not functioning properly due to improper alignment. Correcting subluxations restores proper nerve flow. With proper nerve flow allowing the body to heal itself, in most cases the pain will go away since the body no longer needs to tell the brain there is a problem. Chiropractic has an over 100-year history in this country and is recognized as a viable healing art throughout many countries in the world. Chiropractic helps relieve headaches, neck, back, leg, arm, knee, elbow, shoulder and joint pain. It can also help athletes, as well as people with illness, allowing their body to function optimally.

Naturopathy
Naturopathy with Dr. Karen Peters
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm - 7pm
A naturopathic doctor is a primary care provider who will work with you to eliminate obstacles to health and facilitate your well-being using natural therapies and lifestyle recommendations. Naturopathic doctors share a four-year, fully accredited, science-based, post-graduate medical training similar to a conventional doctor, but have a different philosophy and approach to working with people. Rather than treat symptoms, the goal of naturopathy is to determine the underlying cause of health issues, and use nature and the inherent healing capacity of the body to restore health. Because of this approach, naturopathy has something to offer every patient. Any condition from minor acute conditions to chronic pain or disease will benefit from gaining tools and education to develop a foundation of good health.
A 30-minute visit will consist of gathering information about you and your health history, and may include appropriate physical exams. Treatment is then chosen based on the individual needs of the patient and may include any of the following:
• Lifestyle modifications
• Botanical medicine
• Physical medicine
• Lab testing or imaging
• Nutritional advice
• Homeopathy
• Supplement recommendations
• Referrals to specialists/other practitioners
Come see how naturopathic medicine can improve your well-being.

Yoga
Iyengar Yoga with Jim
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4pm - 7pm
Harborside offers free, restorative Iyengar yoga to our members. Yoga sessions consist of up to four patients at a time for 30 or 60 minutes. The 30-minute sessions will be tailored or specific conditions, such as:
• Carpal Tunnel
• Fibromyalgia
• Spasmic Disorders
The one-hour sessions will be open to everyone. However, we only have room for up to four people in the room at a time.
Yoga has the esoteric meaning "union with God" and the literal meaning "yoke" in Sanskrit, and is a family of ancient spiritual practices originating in India. It is one of the six schools of Hindu philosophy, in which it is often paired with Samkhya; they are referred together as the Samkhya-Yoga school.
Today in India and across the world, yoga remains a vibrant living tradition and is seen as a means to enlightenment. Karma Yoga (yoga of action), Jnana Yoga (yoga of knowledge), Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion), and Raja Yoga (yoga of meditation) are considered the four main paths of yoga, though each inevitably incorporate elements from the others.

Reiki
Reiki with Laura Maples or Ewa Litauer
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) means the universal life force energy that resides within and around all living things. It is a gentle, non-invasive yet powerful healing technique that treats the whole person, including the body, mind, emotions and spirit. It is relaxing and stress-reducing, and enhances the natural power of the body to heal itself. Reiki practitioners believe that restoring balance to the entire person helps release energy blockages that may underlie illness. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion and has no dogma. There is nothing you must believe in. In fact, Reiki will work whether you believe in it or not!
During a Reiki treatment, you will relax, fully clothed on a massage table while your practitioner gently lays her hands on different parts of your body. Many people report immediate beneficial effects that include deep relaxation, feelings of well-being and a glowing radiance.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (including Acupuncture)
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine with Nubian Flunder
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) originated over 2500 years ago in China. Today it is the fastest growing health care system in the world. It encompasses a delicate balance of acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, massage (Tui-na) and energetic medicine to correct imbalance in the body. This allows the body to heal itself naturally and prevent illness.
TCM is based on the circulation of qi ("chee"). Qi is the life-giving energy that circulates throughout the body from the channels to the organs and back. Qi animates you, gives you vitality and shows up as the sparkle in your eyes. When qi in the body is abundant and flowing freely, you thrive. When it is depleted or obstructed, symptoms arise.
Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine and sterile needles into specific locations of the body known as acupuncture points. Acupuncture points are carefully mapped out along meridians or channels and are the places where qi gathers. The precise insertion of the needles into these points stimulates the qi and restores balance.
Herbal medicine is an essential component to TCM. Of over 10,000 herbs documented, only about 400 are commonly used in the U.S. These herbs are carefully combined to accommodate the unique needs of each person and aid the body’s return to balance.

Western Herbalist
Western Traditional Herbalist with Dixie Block, Western Herbalist Consultant
Herbal medicine is safe and effective at preventing and treating physical and psychological ailments. It is beneficial for either acute or chronic diseases and can serve as complementary adjuncts in a wide variety of therapies. Plant medicines can help the body stay healthy, lessen the effects of habitual stress, and directly treat inherited and acquired ailments. As a holistic herbal practitioner, Dixie Block focuses on the well-being of clients as a whole person, not as a sum of their symptoms. She places an emphasis on health and well-being rather than illness and cure. Using a constitutional model (a way to see patterns in the body’s functions), herbs help those deficient functions to strengthen and will eventually retrain your organs to become stronger. Treatment of physical symptoms with herbal medicines can lead to a deeper transformative process. Each of us possesses an innate capacity for self-healing, and inviting herbal medicines into our lives helps reveal that!
As a holistic herbal practitioner, Dixie addresses the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of those who come for care. During your initial consultation, she will inventory your past and current health history, diet lifestyle, and other factors related to your health. Disease is often a symptom of an underlying illness that stems from deeper problems of the psyche and lifestyle. She will explore the underlying causes of illness and discuss long-term solutions conducive to your health and wellness. In addition to preparing herbal tonics, she gives nutritional information, suggestions on lifestyle changes, and emotional support during the healing process. She may measure blood pressure, look at your tongue, feel your pulse, or ask to see an afflicted area, but the session is mostly conversational.
